Web Viewer for mstore EDM System

IPC is pleased to announce the launch of a new web viewer for its electronic document management system, mstore.

Whilst a web engine has been available for some time, the launch of V3 of the rich client version earlier this year showed that it was time to update the web viewer version, to bring it in line with the latest mstore design features (see screen shot of new web viewer below).

The purpose of the EDM web client is to provide core mstore facilities to users who find themselves working at remote locations where communication bandwidth to home servers is poor; or where the deployment of a full rich client is not practical from an IT perspective.

Using the internet, users can log onto a secure server that services access to mstore application servers, and with the right security, can view cabinets and documents from anywhere in the world. Data stored on servers is protected from direct access, and incoming web users can be restricted to see only what they have approval for.

Core functionality includes full search options, with requested files being rendered into HTML format, with local print, file export and image manipulation available.

Graham Light commented ‘It was time to revise the web viewer to come in line with the rich client version in terms of look and feel, as users mstore on a LAN can now enjoy the same basic layout when they are at other locations’

The web engine will sit on a separate front facing IIS server and mstore has a new security module to cater for the setting up and control of access needs of not only staff but Clients and Suppliers. The system can have a separate pool of concurrent mstore user licences set for web access, thereby cutting out any effect on users of the main rich client version.

‘Deploying the web engine and viewers is a great way of adding to customer and supplier value’ said Pam Roberts, IPC’s Marketing Manager,  ‘By giving them access to information directly related to them, organisations can reduce levels of query they have to handle, by providing access to up to date information, 24 hours a day, to their clients and suppliers. It’s ideal for tracking progress on projects and all forms of time sensitive information.’
